CLERGY AND MISSIONARIES

Temporary visas Type VII (VITEM-VII) are issued to foreign citizens travelling to Brazil as clergy or members of a religious order or congregation, assigned to an institution established in Brazil, as well as to their dependants or dependants of a VITEM-VII visa holder.

DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS

A – Passport valid for a minimum of six months.

B- One recent 3 cm x 4 cm photograph, front view

C– One visa application form (click here to fill in the form). Please disregard the error message about the website’s security certificate. Click at “Continue to this website (not recommended)”.

. Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt.
. Print the receipt.
. Attach your photograph
. Sign the receipt.
. Bring the duly completed and signed receipt, the original documentation, passport and payment.

The visa application form filled out online is valid for one month only. If you apply after that period, it will be necessary to fill out another form.

D – Certificate of good behaviour (international model - Verklaring omtrent het gedrag – VOG) issued by the Dutch Ministry of Justice within 90 days from delivery to the Consulate. Issuance by Dutch authorities may take up to 4 weeks, upon presentation of a declaration issued by this Consulate. Such declaration can be issued upon presentation of a photocopy of either the applicant's ID or passport. The consular fee is € 13,50 and the processing time is up to 5 working days.

E – Certificate of residence issued by Dutch municipal authorities (international model)

F – Notarised copy of certificate of theological studies at tertiary level.

G – Notarised document from the institution where the applicant made his/her theological studies informing the subjects studied, the number of hours of course work for each subject, as well as the marks obtained.

H – Curriculum vitae of the applicant.

I – If applicable, original or certified copy of certificate of marriage (international model), and certificate of birth (international model) of applicant’s children.

J – Certificate of incorporation and statutes of the religious order or entity in Brazil that is inviting the applicant. These documents must be in Portuguese and notarised in Brazil.

K – Written statement from the Brazilian religious order or entity pledging responsibility for the living expenses of the applicant and his/her family while they are in Brazil. This document must be in Portuguese and notarised in Brazil.

M- Certified photocpoy of document recognising the legal authority of the Religious Order`s principal to act on behalf of the Order.

N- Birth certificate (international model).

 


PLEASE NOTE THAT

– On a reciprocity basis, first entry into Brazil must be made within 90 days after the visa has been issued for passport holders of the following countries: Angola, Bahrain, Cambodia, Cape Verde, China, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Greece, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Qatar, Korea, Kuwait, Laos, Libya, Myanmar, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Paraguay, Philippines, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Syria, Thailand, Taiwan and Tunisia.

Maximum duration of the VITEM-VII visa is one year. Extensions can be applied for at the Department of Federal Police, in Brazil, at least 30 days before the visa expires. VITEM-VII holders who are to stay in Brazil for more than 90 days MUST register in person at the Department of Federal Police in Brazil within the first 30 days after their arrival. VITEM-VII holders intending to stay in Brazil for more than 180 days are allowed to take their personal effects exempt from import duties.

Applications for Temporary Visa VII (VITEM-VII) can only be submitted by persons who have resided for the past twelve months within the jurisdiction of the Consulate-General.

 

CONSULAR FEES
A charge of € 63,00 is applicable per visa. An additional processing fee of € 135,00 is charged to visa applications presented by U.S. citizens in reciprocity for identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a visa to the United States of America. British subjects will be subject to a € 139,50 processing fee when the validity of their visas is over 180 days, on a reciprocity basis. Applications for Temporary Visa VII (VITEM-VII) may be submitted in person, by an agent or by mail.

ALL APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED BY AGENT OR BY MAIL ARE SUBJECT TO A € 18,00 HANDLING FEE, IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER APPLICABLE FEE. All fees are payable either by debit card (PIN) or in cash. Credit cards and cheques are not accepted.
