PERMANENT VISA FOR
RETIREE
A Permanent Visa may be issued to an individual
intending to establish permanent residency in
Brazil who is retired and can prove ability to
transfer to Brazil a pension that amounts at least
to US$ 2,000.00 (two thousand
US dollars) monthly. Similar visas may also be
issued for dependants (spouse and children of
the applicant under 21 years of age). If number
of dependants exceeds two, the applicant must
be able to transfer an amount of US$ 1,000.00
for each extra dependant who intends to accompany
him/her. The visa application and the pertinent
documentation must be lodged with the Consulate-General.
The minimum required documentation includes:
A – Passport valid for at least
6 months
Authenticated photocopies of the identifying pages
will be taken by this Consulate-General at the
cost of € 13,50 per page.
Also applicable to accompanying dependants.
B – Original marriage certificate,
or birth certificate (international model) of
dependant
In case a permanent visa is also requested for
a spouse or child of the applicant, in order to
prove blood relation between applicant and dependants.
C – Original birth certificate

To be obtained from Dutch municipal authorities
D –Certificate
of good behaviour (international model
- Verklaring omtrent het gedrag – VOG) issued
by the Dutch Ministry of Justice within 90 days
from delivery to the Consulate, for each
dependent. Issuance by Dutch authorities
may take up to 4 weeks, upon presentation of a
declaration issued by this Consulate. Such declaration
can be issued upon presentation of a photocopy
of either the applicant's ID or passport. The
consular fee is € 13,50 and the processing
time is up to 5 working days.
E– Declaration from the Dutch source
of payment informing the monthly amount paid as
a pension, with its conversion in US dollars.
Original document must be certified either by
a Dutch Notary Public or by the Chamber of Commerce.
Further translated into Portuguese and authenticated
by a Dutch Notary Public and further by the Consulate-General.
F– Bank declaration stating that
the amount received as a pension can be legally
transferred to a bank in Brazil. Original
document must be certified either by a Dutch Notary
Public or by the Chamber of Commerce. Further
translated into Portuguese and authenticated by
a Dutch Notary Public and further by the Consulate-General.
G– Declaration from the Dutch source
of payment confirming the permanent retirement
of the applicant. Original document
must be certified either by a Dutch Notary Public
or by the Chamber of Commerce. Further translated
into Portuguese and authenticated by a Dutch Notary
Public and further by the Consulate-General.
H– One recent 3cm x 4cm photograph,
front view.

number and receipt.

. Bring the duly completed and signed receipt,
the original documentation, passport and payment.
The visa application form filled out
online is valid for one month only. If you apply
after that period, it will be necessary to fill
out another form.
PLEASE NOTE THAT
1. Once all the necessary documentation is received,
the Consulate-General must submit the application
to the appropriate Brazilian authorities and receive
authorisation to grant the visa. A reply usually
takes three months. In order to know whether your

2. After you bring your passport to the Consulate
General and fees are paid, please allow a minimum
of five working days for the issuance of the visa.
Add a minimum of two working days for passports
returned by mail.
3. The authorisation to grant the visa expires
within six months from the date of issuance.
4. On a reciprocity basis, first entry into Brazil
must be made within 90 days after the visa has
been issued for passport holders of the following
countries: Angola, Bahrain, Cambodia, Cape Verde,
China, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana,
Greece, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan,
Qatar, Korea, Kuwait, Laos, Libya, Myanmar, Nigeria,
Oman, Pakistan, Paraguay, Philippines, Portugal,
Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Syria, Thailand, Taiwan
and Tunisia.
5. Bearers of a permanent visa must register
with the Brazilian Federal Police within 30 days
from the date of arrival. For this purpose, make
sure to take the second copy of the application
form duly stamped by this Consulate-General.
6. If the applicant wishes to take household
effects into Brazil, the Consulate-General will
provide the necessary information.

• Legalisation of each signature in documents

• Handling fee per visa submitted by agent

An additional processing fee of €
126,00 is charged to visa applications
presented by U.S. citizens.
British subjects will be subject to a €
139,50 processing fee when the validity
of their visas is over 180 days.
All fees are payable either by debit card (PIN)
or in cash. Credit cards and cheques are not accepted.
Visas of this kind are free of charge for Italian
citizens.
