PERMANENT VISA
Marriage to a Brazilian citizen
or permanent resident
foreign citizen married to a Brazilian citizen
or to an alien with a permanent residence permit
to Brazil may apply for a permanent visa at the
Consulate General. The visa application and the
pertinent documentation must be lodged at the
Consulate General. The Consulate General will
then submit documentation to Brazilian home authorities.
If the application is granted, the decision of
the Brazilian home authorities will be published
in this website at Authorized
visas. The procedure takes around 3 months.
Minimum required documentation includes:
SPOUSE’S BRAZILIAN DOCUMENTS
A – Identity card
If the spouse is Brazilian, the required document
is the “Carteira de Identidade Civil”.
If the spouse is a resident alien, the required
document is the “Carteira do Registro Nacional
de Estrangeiros”.
B – Statement in Portuguese assuming
responsibility for the applicant’s
maintenance in Brazil
(termo de responsabilidade e manutenção)

Consulate-General or sworn before a notary public.

One form for each accompanying dependant.
Fill in the form.
. Click "SEND" to receive your processing
number and receipt.
. Print the receipt.
. Attach your photograph
. Sign the receipt.
. Bring the duly completed and signed receipt,
the original documentation, passport and payment.
The visa application form filled out
online is valid for one month only. If you apply
after that period, it will be necessary to fill
out another form.
E– Passport, which will be photocopied
and returned to the applicant
F– Marriage certificate issued
by the Consulate General or in Brazil
G– Certificate of good behaviour
(international model - Verklaring omtrent het
gedrag – VOG) issued by the Dutch Ministry
of Justice within 90 days from delivery to the
Consulate. Issuance by Dutch
authorities may take up to 4 weeks, upon presentation
of a declaration issued by this Consulate. Such
declaration can be issued upon presentation of
a photocopy of either the applicant's ID or passport.
The consular fee is € 13,50 and the processing
time is up to 5 working days.
H– Birth certificate (international
model).
PLEASE
NOTE THAT
1 – All Brazilian documents must be originals
or notarized copies. All non-Brazilian documents
must be notarized and have the signature of the
notary public recognized by a Brazilian Consulate
or Embassy, with payment of the appropriate fees.
2 – The legalization of documents B, F,
H at the Consulate General is not required If
the applicant has been married for five or more
years.
3 - Any document (including documents B, F and
H) issued outside the Netherlands will only be
accepted after it has been legalised by the Brazilian
Embassy (or Brazilian Consulate) in the country
it has been issued.
4– Once all the necessary documentation
is received, the Consulate-General must submit
the application to the appropriate Brazilian authorities
and receive authorization to grant the visa. This
step, however, is not required if the applicant
has been married for five or more years. In this
case, the visa will be granted in a minimum of
five working days.
5– After the authorization for issuance
of the visa has been received by the Consulate-General
and fees are paid, please allow a minimum of five
working days for the issuance of the visa. The
authorization to grant the visa expires within
six months from the date it was received by the
Consulate General.
6– Add a minimum of two working days for
passports returned by mail.
7–– On a reciprocity basis, first
entry into Brazil must be made within 90 days
after the visa has been issued for passport holders
of the following countries: Angola, Bahrain, Cambodia,
Cape Verde, China, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon,
Ghana, Greece, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Japan,
Jordan, Qatar, Korea, Kuwait, Laos, Libya, Myanmar,
Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Paraguay, Philippines,
Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Syria, Thailand,
Taiwan and Tunisia.
8 - Holders of a permanent visa must require
an Alien Identity Card (Carteira do Registro Nacional
de Estrangeiros) at a Federal Police office within
30 days of arrival in Brazil.

Each visa € 180,00
Each document legalized at the Consulate-General
(items B, F, H and I) € 18,00
Marriage certificate issued by the Consulate-General

Each photocopy authenticated at the Consulate-General
(item D) € 13,50
An additional processing fee of €
126,00 is charged to visa applications
presented by U.S. citizens. British subjects will
be subject to a € 139,50
processing fee when the validity of their visas
is over 180 days.
– All fees are payable either by debit
card (PIN) or in cash. Credit cardsand cheques
are not accepted.
– If the applicant has been married for
five or more years, fees must be paid in advance.
– In the opposite case (married for less
than five years) the fees will have to be paid
at the moment the visa is granted.
– Visas of this kind are free of charge
for Italian citizens.
DOCUMENTATION RETURNED BY MAIL
Applicants should provide the Consulate-General
with a self-addressed stamped envelope
of suitable size.
