Visas
UNDERGRADUATE, MASTER
OR DOCTORATE STUDENT (TEMPORARY VISA IV)
This kind of visa is issued to foreign citizens
travelling to Brazil to undertake university studies
in a Brazilian institution recognized by the Brazilian
Ministry of Education.
DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
A – Passport valid for a minimum of six
months or the duration of the visa,
whichever is longer.
B – One recent 3 cm x 4 cm photograph,
front view
C– One visa application form (click
here to fill in the form). Please disregard
the error message about the website’s security
certificate. Click at “Continue to this
website (not recommended)”.
Fill in the form.
. Click "SEND" to receive your processing
number and receipt.
. Print the receipt.
. Attach your photograph
. Sign the receipt.
. Bring the duly completed and signed receipt,
the original documentation, passport and payment.
The visa application form filled out
online is valid for one month only. If you apply
after that period, it will be necessary to fill
out another form.
D – Proof of enrolment in an educational
institution in Brazil.
Duration of course must be indicated.
E – Certificate of residence in the Netherlands
for the last twelve months issued by the Dutch
municipal authorities (international model)
F – Proof of availability of sufficient
funds for self-maintenance for the duration of
stay in Brazil (€ 665.00 per month) or scholarship
G – Certificate of good behaviour issued
by the Dutch Ministry of Justice (international
model) within 90 days from delivery to the Consulate.
Issuance by Dutch authorities may take up to 4
weeks.
H – Birth certificate (international model)
PLEASE NOTE THAT
– On a reciprocity basis, first entry into
Brazil must be made within 90 days after the visa
has been issued for passport holders of the following
countries: Angola, Bahrain, Cambodia, China, Gabon,
Ghana, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Laos,
Lybia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Paraguay, Philippines,
Portugal, Thailand, Tunisia and Switzerland.
Maximum duration of the VITEM-IV visa is one
year. Extensions can be applied for at the Department
of Federal Police, in Brazil, at least 30 days
before the visa expires. Applications for extensions
must be accompanied by a school report from the
Brazilian educational institution in which the
applicant has been enrolled in addition to proof
of enrolment for the following school term.
VITEM-IV holders who are to stay in Brazil for
more than 90 days MUST register in person at the
Department of Federal Police in Brazil within
the first 30 days after their arrival. A copy
of the visa application form must be submitted
to the Police authorities.
VITEM-IV holders intending to stay in Brazil
for more than 180 days are allowed to take their
personal effects exempt from import duties. Pertinent
inquiries should be addressed to the Consulate-General.
Applications for Temporary Visa IV can only
be submitted in the consular district in which
the applicant has lived for the last twelve months.
CONSULAR FEES
A charge of € 36,00 is applicable per visa.
For US citizens, only a processing fee of €
126,00 will be charged. British subjects
will be subject to a € 139,50 processing
fee when the validity of their visas is over 180
days, on a reciprocity basis. Holders of French
passports are subject to a € 90.00 processing
fee, on a reciprocity basis. ALL APPLICATIONS
SUBMITTED BY AGENT ARE SUBJECT TO A € 18,00
HANDLING FEE, IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER APPLICABLE
FEE.
All fees are payable either by debit card
(PIN) or in cash. Credit cards and cheques are
not accepted.
UPON DELIVERY OF COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION
AT THE CONSULATE-GENERAL, PLEASE ALLOW A MINIMUM
OF FIVE WORKING DAYS FOR THE ISSUANCE OF THE VISA.
ADD A MINIMUM OF TWO WORKING DAYS FOR PASSPORTS
RETURNED BY MAIL. THE CONSULATE GENERAL IS OPEN
TO THE PUBLIC FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY, EXCEPT LOCAL
HOLIDAYS AND SEPTEMBER 7TH FROM 10 AM TO 4 PM
