VOLUNTARY WORKER
VITEM-I visas are issued to a foreign citizen
travelling to Brazil to work for a religious or
social assistance institutions or for a public
interest Nongovernmental Organization (NGO), provided
that he/she is not employed by a company or institution
in Brazil. The visa application shall be submitted
by the Consulate General to Brazilian home authorites.
The Consulate will only isssue the visa after
the requirement is granted. The procedure takes
around 3 months. Check whether your visa authorization

DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS TO
LODGE THE APPLICATION
A – One recent 3 cm x 4 cm photograph,
front view
B– One visa application form (click
here to fill in the form). Please disregard
the error message about the website’s security
certificate. Click at “Continue to this
website (not recommended)”.
Fill in the form.
. Click "SEND" to receive your processing
number and receipt.
. Print the receipt.
. Attach your photograph
. Sign the receipt.
. Bring the duly completed and signed receipt,
the original documentation, passport and payment.
The visa application form filled out
online is valid for one month only. If you apply
after that period, it will be necessary to fill
out another form.
C– Proof of studies and professional qualification
compatible with the activities to be carried out
in Brazil. Diploms and course of studiesin Dutch
must be translated into Portuguese, Spanish, French
or English by a sworn translator before being
delivered at the Consulate, together with authenticated
photocopies of the original..The Consulate will
judge if professional qualifications are compatible.
If they are judged insufficient, application will
be refused.
D– Letter of invitation from the Brazilian
institution specifying details of work place and
type of activities to be carried out by the applicant,
notarised by a Notary Public, in Brazil
E– written statement from the Brazilian
Institution assuming full responsibility for the
maintenance of the applicant while in Brazil and
for his/her return to the Netherlands, notarised
by a Notary Public in Brazil. The institution
must assume responsibility, not the applicant.
F– written statement from the Brazilian
Institution assuming full responsibility for the
health care of the applicant and his dependants
during their stay in Brazil, notarised by a Notary
Public in Brazil. The institution must
assume responsibility, not the applicant.
G– Proof of constitution of the Brazilian
sponsoring institution, i.e. social statutes,
articles of association, appointment act or nomination
of the current board of directors
H - Proof of registration with the respective
National, State, Federal District of Municipal
Social Welfare Council, legalized photocopies
of current documents by a Notary Public, in Brazil,
or alternatively a certificate, issued
by the Brazilian Ministry of Justice, to the effect
that the NGO's activies are of public interest
I– Proof that the Brazilian Institution
is fully functional , notarised by a Notary Public,
in Brazil
J– Copy of pages with personal data of
the passport, legalized by the Consulate-General
K– Original certificate of good behaviour
(international model), legalized by the Consulate-General.
Issued by the Dutch Ministry of Justice within
90 days from delivery to the Consulate. Issuance
by Dutch authorities may take up to 4 weeks.
L– Original certificate of birth (international
model), legalized by the Consulate-General
M– Original certificate of residence in
the Netherlands (international model), legalized
by the Consulate-General.
DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS TO
RETRIEVE THE VISA
A – Passport valid for a minimum
of six months
B - Pay the consular fee to the visa
PLEASE NOTE THAT
- Authorizations to retrieve a visa are valid
for 180 days after reception by the Consulate
General
– A permanent visa
can be granted to applicants designated as directors
or administrators of a religious or social assistance
institution in Brazil. Specific information on
issuance of permanent visas is provided separately
in this site.
– – On a reciprocity basis, first
entry into Brazil must be made within 90 days
after the visa has been issued for passport holders
of the following countries: Angola, Bahrain, Cambodia,
China, Gabon, Ghana, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan,
Kuwait, Laos, Lybia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Paraguay,
Philippines, Portugal, Thailand, Tunisia and Switzerland.
- - Maximum duration of the visa is two years.
CONSULAR FEES
This visa costs € 54,00.
A charge of € 18,00 is applicable
per document legalised by the Consulate General.
An additional processing fee of €
135,00 is charged to visa applications
presented by U.S. citizens in reciprocity for
identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply
for a visa to the United States of America. British
subjects will be subject to a € 139,50
processing fee when the validity of their visas
is over 180 days, on a reciprocity basis. All
fees are payable either by debit card (PIN) or
in cash. Credit cards and cheques are not accepted.
PASSPORTS RETURNED BY MAIL
Applicants should provide the Consulate-General
with a self-addressed stamped envelope of suitable
size.
THE CONSULATE-GENERAL CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE
FOR LOST OR DELAYED MAIL. UPON ARRIVAL OF COMPLETE
DOCUMENTATION AT THE CONSULATE-GENERAL, PLEASE
ALLOW A MINIMUM OF TWELVE WEEKS FOR THE ISSUANCE
OF THE VISA. ADD A MINIMUM OF TWO WORKING DAYS
FOR PASSPORTS RETURNED BY MAIL.
